Disasters

Over the past two centuries, Lincoln County has faced a series of profound disasters that have tested the resilience of its people and left permanent scars on the community. The region has weathered the relentless floods of the Elk River and been struck by massive tornadoes that caused significant loss of life and catastrophic property damage. Tragedy has also arrived in sudden, heartbreaking moments, such as the horrific plane crash into a crowd of spectators that killed nine people, a major train derailment, and massive fires that consumed local landmarks. The images in this collection stand as a solemn record of that devastation, preserving the memory of these hardships and the strength required to rebuild.
